American Senior Housing Association

The American Seniors Housing Association (ASHA) was originally formed as a committee of the National Multi Housing Council in 1991, and became an independent non-profit organization ten years later on January 1, 2001.

Members of ASHA are executives involved in the operation, development and finance of the entire spectrum of seniors housing - senior apartments, independent living communities, assisted living residences, and continuing care retirement communities. ASHA's membership consists of both for-profit and not-for-profit operators, lenders and investors, and other prominent professionals. The Association's membership owns and/or manages an estimated 500,000 units of seniors housing in the U.S., with properties located in all 50 states, Canada, and Europe.

International Council on Active Aging

International Council on Active Aging (ICAA) was founded in the belief that unifying the efforts of the organizations focused on older adults benefits both the people they reach and the organizations themselves. Today, the vision is shared by over 5,000 organizations connected to the ICAA network.

Whether retirement community, seniors center or fitness club, all ICAA members share a common interest in reaching older adults with active-aging messages, facilities, programs and guidance. The ICAA supports these professionals and organizations with education, information, resources and tools so they can achieve optimal success with this market.

Meals on Wheels Chicago

Working in partnership with the Chicago Department on Aging (CDoA) and the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD), Meals on Wheels Chicago raises the funding to provide desperately needed services that would otherwise not be covered by government funds.  Meals on Wheels Chicago is more than just a meal. To many clients, the meal service is the final piece of the puzzle; they are able to care for their other needs or have sufficient help and support to do so. For many others however, the meals are only the first step toward stabilizing their home environment. Inability to access or prepare meals infers that other daily needs may also be going unmet as well.

We do our best to reduce the chance of premature institutionalization for all Chicagoans by not only providing healthy daily meals and a friendly driver's contact, but also by assisting them with their situation as a whole. This is where our city partners social work staff of the Chicago Department on Aging and Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities comes into play.
