Unique to Senior Lifestyle employees, the Institute of Hospitality is an advanced educational experience that SLC employees apply to attend. The advanced program is offered in the School of Culinary Arts, the School of Management and the School of Innovative Programming. The School of Culinary Arts is the only one of it’s kind in the senior living industry and is an example of Senior Lifestyle’s commitment to providing superior dining experiences for its residents.
Only eight participants are chosen to participate in the five-day, fast-paced, intense learning and creative workshop. The workshops are lead by a team of nationally known restaurateurs and chefs, including David Koelling, Vice President of Corporate Services and a nationally known restaurateur; Jeff Kelley, Corporate Director of Dining Services, who is a top graduate of the Disney Culinary Academy; and Jason Messier Corporate Manager of Dining Services, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America.
The goal of the School of Culinary Arts is to allow our talented chefs to continue to grow and develop personally and professionally with Senior Lifestyle. As a leader in the industry, SLC holds its dining services teams to very high standards. These standards include making breads, soups, sauces, marinades, salad dressings desserts and more, from scratch daily. These standards bring a benefit to all residents on a daily basis; a healthy, low sodium cuisine filled with seasonal fresh, enticing options.
