At Harbour Village in Greendale, WI wireless security solutions have greatly enhanced quality of care and service. In August, the community implemented GE Healthcare's QuietCare technology. Each residence in Harbour Village's assisted living and memory care buildings is outfitted with the wireless, sensor-based system.
Lake Barrington Woods retirement community hosts a series of classes
designed to help seniors understand their fear of falling, identify
risk factors and develop ways to reduce risks, increase safety and
improve the muscle strength needed to be able to get up following a
fall.
Lake Barrington Woods retirement community recently implemented a QuietCare system, which uses motion sensors to provide more efficient care for its assisted living residents.
The system allows caretakers to monitor residents while they are in their apartments without using video or audio surveillance. For example, a motion sensor placed next to a bed can detect if a resident falls out of bed in the middle of the night. Motion sensors placed at the entrance to the bathroom can detect whether a resident is going to the bathroom several times at night and can alert staff if the person remains in the bathroom for an inordinate amount of time.

Sterhardt is a resident in The Heritage Legacy, an assisted living community in Sun City West that recently installed GE’s Quietcare system in its 41 apartments.
