Testimonials for Inn at the Amethyst
We can talk all day about how great our communities are, but we think you should hear from people who have experienced first-hand how we offer an unmatched quality of life at every senior living community.
“This may be the best option for my father if he were to go alone due the higher level of care.” – apfm_family
“We went to check out Amethyst and we liked it. They were able to provide the things that my mom needed. The staff were caring and friendly. She got a really big room with a living room and bedroom for a good price. The dining room was nice too. There were a lot of everyday game activities like parties, bingo, movie night. They also took the residents shopping several times a week. There was also a swimming pool so it was very active. Although it would be better if they improved the communication.” – Caring0020
“I do not understand some of these reviews here. My parents have lived at the Amethyst for about a year. My dad has recently been moved due to his advancing memory problems but still at the Amethyst. We would not dream of moving him anywhere else. I used to visit a few times per month but my husband and I recently relocated to Las Vegas area for a promotion at work. Part of the reason we were able to move is that we felt so confident with my parents being taken care of at the Amethyst. In their working years my mom and dad ran a country store business in the Midwest and they always took care of their customers when they came in. They gre accustomed to good service and they knew when it was and was not there. I will admit that at first we were really not too happy with what we were getting compared to what we were told we would get at the Amethyst. But that was about a year ago. There really is no comparison to then and now. Everything has improved immensely. I have watched the staff at the Amethyst care for my mom and dad..my dad can be tough at times but they were the ultimate professionals. The last few times I was there I think was in July and August and they are still getting better. I remember always refusing to eat in the dining rooms when I visited because the food was pretty much hospital food in all ways. That is so far from the case now. Over the last few months I have been very pleased with what I was served and the staff served it with care. It appears that the food and service has made a complete turn around. The nursing staff has been completely improved just keep going in the direction the nursing staff is going and you will have many happy families. My mom enjoys the Bingo and this thing she calls horse races no real horses but I do not really understand what she means by horse races. Anyway she enjoys them. It really is not fair to blame the newer staff members for mistakes of their predecessors. It is obvious they care and are doing sll they can to improve the Amethyst. A good point to show this is when my mom came home from a hospital stay a few months ago she was on a very strict diet per her Dr. I was worried about her remembering to stay on the diet because admittedly she is forgetful and sometimes just stubborn. I went to talk to Jeff the director of the food department and he could not have been more genuinely concerned for her welfare. He went over the options on the menu that would fit into my mothers situation and even offered to give us the nutritional information for those items. He had it to us the very next day. Our concerns were calories, sodium, sugar and saturated fat. It was all there for my mom to see in simple plain manner. It helped her recover as she was supposed to. It made a difference. Another show of real change came when the night care giver came to check on my mom and she was just not feeling herself. She was not ill just I would say depressed about my dad advancing with his memory loss. The care giver sat with my mom and just talked to her for probably longer than she was supposed to. I know she has other things to do but at that time my mom was her concern. My mom called to tell me what she did but did not remember her name. All she knew was she had a blue shirt and long dark hair. I called to try to thank her but who I spoke with could not figure out who it was. So please be fair to the great new staff at the Amethyst they are truly doing the right things on an ongoing basis. Also, remember they are doing the best they can in a difficult situation.” – Sunandsurfgirl
“My mother is a resident at Amethyst. She has beginning Alzheimer’s but still lives independently. We (her children) thought it was the most beautiful place we looked at, and our experience with Amethyst has been superlative. Although my mother didn’t want to move anywhere from her home, she now tells me every time I talk to her how glad she is that “she” chose Amethyst. That’s fine with us. The care and the food (!) are excellent.” – WorryFreeDaughter
“The facilities at Amethyst Gardens are very nice and the food is good. The staff was very accommodating and very helpful. They have crafts and a lot of beads work to do.” – Susan67751050
“This is a facility with three buildings on 28 acres of land. It is nice adobe style buildings with a wall around it. The buildings are two and three stories. The grounds are nice with trees, shrubs, and grass. They have studio, one and two bedroom in the independent building with handicapped equipped and an emergency system. The three buildings are independent, assisted, and memory care. There is a nice central dining room which serves three meals and snacks. There is a good variety and food is good. There is one dining room for each building. They have a fitness room, library, movie room, sitting areas, beauty salon, and activity room. They have housekeeping weekly. They have doctors who come in, nurse on duty and on call, and certified caregivers. They work with hospice and therapies. They can transport to appointments. The staff is very caring. They have several beautiful courtyards to walk and sitting ateas which are shaded. They have greenhouses for residents as well. They do seven activities a day as, exercises, bingo, tea parties, entertainment, movies, arts and crafts. They go on outings shopping, casinos, and other events. This is a very active, homey community.” – Emmy
“The care my aunt receives by the caring staff has exceeded my expectations. My aunt is very happy there.” – Nancy
“Still first choice. Dad is starting to give things away so while he says he’s not moving yet, I believe he’s thinking about it.”
“The quality of service at the Inn at Amethyst is truly outstanding. I took a friend’s grandmother to view the facility, and though she was a little nervous at first, the staff were so personable and made her feel very welcome. We joined in an activity they were having and she had the greatest time socializing and making new friends. Following the activity, we enjoyed dinner in the dining room, and she fell in love with the meatloaf gravy and mashed potatoes. She said that it was absolutely the epitome of a home cooked meal. She said the food alone was worth making the move to the facility. When it was time to leave, I practically had to pull her out of there! I was incredibly happy with how the staff made her feel so welcome. They almost instantly put any anxiety she may have been feeling to rest by introducing her to residents and getting her involved with the activities. They gave her an idea of what a typical day living there would be like, and I think that really helped her to feel more comfortable with the impending transition from her own home to her assisted living home. She realized that her life there was not going to impose the boring and sedentary lifestyle she had been afraid of. Instead she found that the Inn at Amethyst supports and encourages a very active and healthy lifestyle and they going even further in this support by offering residents a wide variety of different activities to choose from each month. She really fell in love with the Inn at Amethyst and I was very impressed with the quality of service and care that I observed.”
“My friend Martha was in need of an assisted living facility. We were looking in the NW Phoenix area and toured approximately a dozen different facilities over the period of a few weeks. Amethyst Gardens came out on top over everything else we looked at when all of the parameters were considered. Cost, value, amenities, customer service, location, size, age and overall property condition, etc. My 88 year old father came with us on our last visit and was so impressed by the facility and what it offered he is excited to move there as well! My friend Martha moved in on the 1st of this month and is very pleased with her choice.”
