Reflections Independent Living
LIVE THE GOOD LIFE AT REFLECTIONS
Opened in 1986 and recently remodeled in 2013, Reflections has been providing the finest in Independent Living and Assisted Living to the Lancaster, Ohio, community for decades. Now with our new Lancaster Assisted Living wing, our community is optimally designed for aging in place within a safe and loving environment. We would love for you to visit us with your family and loved ones and see for yourself!
FRIENDS, FAMILY, AND YOU
With its convenient location, a host of dedicated services, and a wide array of amenities, each resident’s wants and needs are carefully tended to in an atmosphere dedicated to the closeness of family and friends. Residents enjoy board games, movies, cards, dominoes, and other social activities in our large and comfy family room. The many activity spaces, services, and amenities at Reflections allow our residents to kick back, relax, and enjoy themselves with friends and family.
WE ARE AT YOUR SERVICE
Life at Reflections includes our dining program featuring fresh, home-cooked meals prepared by the Executive chef; housekeeping service; award-winning programs; daily wellness checks; and more. We drive groups to local markets, restaurants, and attractions, too. Have a request? We are more than happy to take you wherever you need or want to go—just ask!
CARE THAT’S ALWAYS THERE
Our Lancaster Assisted Living residents and residents’ families receive valuable peace of mind knowing that a licensed nurse is available. Prior to moving in we speak with you and your physician to find just the right level of assistance that will allow you to enjoy your independence to the fullest. Together, we will compose an Individual Service Plan (ISP) to guide us in assisting you. Our mission is to provide a lifestyle that fosters independence, actively engages the mind, invigorates the body and nurtures the spirit while offering you and your loved ones the peace of mind you deserve.
WORRY-FREE LIFESTYLE WITH JUST A SIMPLE LEASE
While some communities insist on new residents putting down huge, non-refundable payments up-front, we like to do things a little differently. We care about not only the physical and emotional well being of our residents, but their financial health as well. That’s why we offer our residents all the perks of country club living without the expensive buy-in—just a simple lease. Reflections offers one- and two-bedroom apartment homes to Lancaster Independent Living residents. For Assisted Living, we offer studio apartments in three different floor plan options. Further detail regarding floor plans, amenities, and more can be found along the sidebar to the left.
Dining at Reflections
Live Well, Dine Well
Allow our professionally trained service staff to present you with delicious dishes made from locally sourced ingredients for breakfast, lunch and dinner. At Senior Lifestyle, dining is an integral part of the resident experience, and we do everything we can to delight you with a personalized dining experience.
Dining Directors and Executive Chefs meet with residents to discuss and incorporate enhancements to the menu, special requests, favorite recipes or foods, and unless otherwise specified by state regulations we offer therapeutic diets such as reduced concentrated sweets, mechanical soft and purée. Residents can select healthy, locally sourced options based on the nutritional information, or they can simply opt to choose their favorites. And we always encourage residents and relatives to make special arrangements when expecting a family visit!

Executive Bio for Reflections
Meet our Executive Director
Karen has specialized in the senior care industry since 2012 and joined the Senior Lifestyle family in 2015. Since beginning her journey in the industry, Karen says her love for the residents themselves has remained the highlight of her position as Executive Director.
“My favorite part about my job is interacting with residents and watching the residents interact with each other; the stories of their lives are so intriguing,” Karen said.”I also like working behind the scenes with elements such as budgeting or operations – all the elements that come together with the residents’ best interests in mind to make a beautiful home.”
Karen is also proud of the atmosphere at Reflections, not just physically, but also the feeling of comfort and safety residents and their family members have.
“We offer a bright airy yet homey atmosphere where our residents can enjoy each other or have their own privacy. Our library makes the perfect spot for private family gatherings. The Atrium is full of sunshine perfect for sitting, reading, putting puzzles together or people watching,” Karen said. “We come alongside your loved one helping them in activities of daily living, whatever those might be.”
In her spare time, Karen enjoys reading and spending time with her family. She’s excited for you to come and visit the Reflections family for yourself!
Awards for Reflections
And the Award Goes to…
Since Senior Lifestyle was founded in 1985, our skilled and compassionate team has been helping Senior Living residents learn, grow, and connect in ways they never expected. The best part is that we learn from our residents even more than they learn from us, which might explain why our programs and services continue to evolve and improve every year. As a result of our high level of service, we’ve received official recognition over the years. While we are proud of these awards, our passion for what we do continues to drive us to improve every single day.
Awards for Reflections
heart of caring
The most sought after honor at Senior Lifestyle is the annual Heart of Caring Award. The Heart of Caring Award is reserved for an outstanding individual who best brings the Senior Lifestyle Mission, Core Values and Service Culture to life daily within their communities. We are proud and honored to recognize the Heart of Caring Winner from Atrium Village and deeply thank all of these special individuals for making a difference in the lives of our residents, bringing peace of mind to the families, and serving as role models for their peers.
Resident Aide, Reflections
One of the many joys of the Heart of Caring award process is watching team members celebrate their coworkers through the nomination process; in many cases, there are more glowing comments than we can fit in one post. Today’s featured nominee is one such example, so much so that we’ve decided to let her nomination forms speak for themselves:
“Carol Shafer exhibits all of SLC’s Core Values! She is consistently a CHART hero in all she does. Caring: Carol’s genuine interest for our residents is displayed daily by going above and beyond any of her daily duties. She often is seen quickly tying shoes, adjusting clothing or just giving a quick hug to Assisted Living as well as Independent Living residents in the midst of going to perform her next duty. Carol is quick to respond to every request no matter how big or small for the residents at Reflections. Her care for her co-workers is seen every day, as she faithfully goes to each department, door-to-door, just to say good-bye and tell everyone to enjoy the rest of their day. Honesty: in gratitude of her excellent care, families and residents are always trying to “tip” Carol with gift cards. In the few instances when families have left sealed Thank-you cards for Carol, upon opening them and discovering the tip, she marches directly to the office and gives the “tip” to the Executive Director or Business Office Manager to return to families or residents and re-educate on the policy.”
“Appreciation: Every day Carol can be heard affirming co-workers in their duties, as well as acknowledging them on a “job well done.” Often she has come to me directly just to “say you are doing a good job, thank you.” Her heart truly wants every coworker to succeed in their job. Respect: Carol’s respect for others is found in her everyday acts of civility toward others. it’s the continual hello’s, good-bye’s, thank-you’s, opening doors, or the “how is your day” and “let me help you with that.” Carol is mindful of all departments’ responsibilities and is open to any ideas that will ensure quality care of our residents. Teamwork: Carol’s initiative to jump in at any given chance to assist housekeeping, dining, activities, marketing or management is only surpassed by the continuous smile on her face.”
“She is a friend or family to every person she meets. I have seen her cry and comfort both independent and assisted living residents’ families after they have passed. I have seen her display concern and empathy for residents and their families during difficult times. I have seen her sit and assist a resident to put together a model airplane that his daughter sent from out of state for his birthday…If you asked our residents or family members about Carol there would not be one negative comment. They describe Carol as being the most caring person they know, the happiest person they know, the most thankful person they know, and are in awe of her energy and enthusiasm she puts toward enriching the lives of all those that come in contact with her.”

They’ve done an excellent job so far at Reflections Retirement Community. The staff here are friendly and professional, and they’ve really gone out of their way to help my loved one get settled in, even going so far as helping her get her furniture moved from her old place.
