Executive Bio for Morningside House of Leesburg
Meet our Executive Director
Sandra Kuhn brings 35+ years of experience working with seniors. She began her career as a young teenager delivering newspapers to seniors living in a Long Term Care facility. At the age of 15 she was offered a job as a laundry aid cleaning resident’s and facility linens. During this time, she also began helping out in the kitchen preparing and delivering meals to the residents. At the age of 16 she learned the skills needed to provide resident care. She worked in this facility through her high school years then attended nursing school at Rhode Island College where she grated with a BS in Nursing and a BA in psychology. Upon graduating and successfully passing the licensing exam she made a change in career path and began working with children, adolescents, and adults with mental health needs from 1992 – 1998. In August 1998 she was recruited from New Jersey to VA as Chief Clinical Office/ Chief Operating Officer of an acute care/residential community for children, adolescents, and adults with mental health needs. In 1999 she chose to return to senior care. She has held many positions from staff nurse to Director of Nursing in various clinical settings. In 2005 she obtained her License as a Nursing Home Administrator continuing to provide services to seniors. In 2013, she passed the national exam receiving the credentials CPHQ, Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality. Her thirst for knowledge in providing excellent services to seniors did not end there. She later became certified as a Resident Assessment Coordinator in 2015 and most recently received Board Certification as an Infection Prevention in Oct.2018. Sandra is passionate about senior care and it shows through her daily enthusiasm and positive attitude towards the seniors she serves and staff she leads. When not at Morningside House of Leesburg, she resides 1.2 miles from the community. She has lived in Loudoun County for 22 years with her husband, 4 adult children, and a granddaughter.
