Residents of The Club at Briarcliff Manor have come together to establish a library for everyone who lives at the community.
On Aug. 8, 2022, residents cut the ribbon on their passion project of a library for the community, spearheaded by Independent Living resident Ann Barringer Spaeth. She is a former bookstore owner and a self-described lifelong community organizer.
She and the Carnigie Library Committee worked to bring this project together at The Club at Briarcliff Manor. Library committee members (pictured above) are (back row, left to right) Fred Lichtenthal, Mary Lou Singleton, Rita O’Neil, Harlene Schrek, Fred and Marian Lichtstein, Meme Cohen, Inge Treser and Joni Klein; (front row) Ann Barringer Spaeth and Arlene Shapiro.
The library will be staffed entirely by a team of Independent Living and Assisted Living residents.
