Gloria Meyer, Red Cross volunteer, world traveler, and Mangrove Bay community resident, celebrated her 107th birthday on August 14th, 2025.
Friends, family, and fellow Mangrove Bay residents gathered with delicious cake and festive music to salute her long life. CBS12 in Jupiter, Florida, also shared her remarkable story.
Meyer is quick with a laugh, warm in conversation, and rich with stories. Born in Iowa in 1918, she went on to make history as one of the first women sent by the Red Cross to the Philippines during World War II. When the war ended, she built a new chapter as an English department head, married a fellow teacher, and poured decades of her life into guiding high school students. She also has delighted in traveling extensively, taking 55 cruises.
She says the secret to her long life is oatmeal, every day!
